How to Buy Water Skiing Ropes

Having the right equipment is a must for any adventure sports. When water skiing, any kind of rope will not do. Water skiing games include a lot of trick and jump skiing and the length and handles for each of these tricks differ from each other. One major factor to consider would be your commitment level towards the sport. The skill level of the water ski rider and the variants of the sport being played all together contribute towards the choice of the ski rope.
Essential features of a water ski rope
Elasticity: Elasticity is an important feature to look out for in any water ski rope. This is a very important feature for water ski ropes as taut ropes will put you at a disadvantage while taking sharp turns as you follow the boat’s route in the waters. Slalom skiers also need to ensure a good deal of flexibility and stretch ability in their ski ropes. Major reason being, that the stretch factor plays a key role in maintaining balance while jumping wakes.
Rope Length: The length of a ski rope measures totally around 75 feet including the bar of the rope handle. Different lengths are required for different styles of water skiing. Almost all the water ski ropes have the flexi length option with markings to identify where it is possible to shorten the length. The adjustable length feature enables you to master slalom skiing at different distances behind the boat. Again in the case of trick skiing the rope can be adjusted to 50 feet which is the normal length used in this type of skiing. Thus it is important to buy a rope that has options to reduce the length. Though most ropes have around 10 adjustable loops, an average user will need only around 5 different measures whereas the remaining 5 options are used only by professional players.
Handle: Traditional water skiing, trick skiing, jump skiing all have different requirements of the rope handles as well. Most common handles are made of aluminum encased in rubber. A trick water skier needs to ensure his rope handle includes a foot stirrup for toe tricks. Jump ski handles are generally narrower and longer. Most professional players opt for sinkable handles which are hollow and allow water to seep in whereas amateurs prefer floatable handles made by injection molded rubber.
